It’s easy, just follow the link fty/donate.html * * * * Before Benny knew it, another month had flown by and it was time to say goodbye to France, the artists’ community, his new friends and his grandad. It was an emotional time for him. He had made so many fond memories to savor for the rest of his life. He spent one whole afternoon making love with JJ. He spent one whole morning making love with Mikhail. And he spent his last evening making love with his grandad. Benny sucked and fucked Eddie then Eddie returned the favor by sucking and fucking Benny. They took a long shower together afterwards and did it all over again. They slept together in the same bed that night, fell asleep holding each other, then they sucked each other off again the next morning. It was so late when they finally got out of bed they skipped morning meditation all together and just ate breakfast together. Eddie told Benny that he’d ship his artwork home rather than having to take it on the plane with him. They hugged and kissed a lot that morning before they heard a knock on the door. Benny had already said his goodbyes to JJ so it could only be one other person. When Benny opened the door, he was proven right. It was Mikhail. “Good morning, Mickey.” Mikhail took Benny in his arms and hugged him so tight he thought he might break in two. When he was finally released and able to breathe again, Benny asked him to come in but Mikhail had another idea. He asked if they could go for a quick walk. Eddie told them to go ahead and not to worry, that he would pack his bag for him but not to take too long. In silence, they started walking toward Mikhail’s caravan and when they reached it, Mikhail told Benny to wait outside, then he brought out a found object portrait of Benny. He had used all kinds of recyclables to make it and Benny was both impressed and moved by the tribute to him. “I love it, Mickey! Thank you so much!!!” He kissed the artist, thanking him again for thinking of him and for the generosity of heart he had shown Benny while he had been there. With tears running down his cheeks, Mikhail said, “I call, `Ben: My first love.'” Then Benny broke down and they cried in each other’s arms until finally Benny had to pull away and leave or he knew he might never. As he walked away, he didn’t turn back. He knew it would be too hard for them both. He just kept putting one foot in front of the other until he was back at Eddie’s house. When Eddie saw it, he thought it might just be the best thing Mikhail had ever done. He offered to photograph it then ship it home as well. They left soon after and drove to the airport where another tear-filled goodbye awaited them. They held onto each other for as long as they could neither wanting to let go. But Eddie finally did. Then Benny kissed him one last time, turned and walked toward security, waving several times before he was out sight. While he was waiting at the gate to board, an older woman noticed that he was crying and asked if he was leaving behind a loved one. Benny answered, “Several… some wonderful new friends and my amazing grandfather.” She patted him on the shoulder and said, “Those are always the hardest,” then left him to reminisce by himself. * Benny’s flight arrived on time and when he got out of Customs, he went looking for his father. Instead, he found his best friend. “Oh my God, Jim, what are you doing here?” he asked as they came together in a tight embrace. “Your dad asked me to pick you up. I hope that’s okay.” He answered as he took Benny’s suitcase leaving Benny to carry his guitar case. They walked toward the exit and where the shuttle bus stops were. Jim went on, “He thought he might break down and didn’t want to embarrass you in public.” Benny laughed out loud as he knew that was exactly something his father would say. They chatted about Benny’s time in France although most of what he was hearing he’d already read in Benny’s weekly email blast. And before they knew it they were pulling onto Paul and Tom’s street. There were a lot of cars parked in front of the house so Benny looked at his best friend and before he could ask, Jim volunteered, “It’s a welcome home party. You istanbul travesti really shouldn’t be surprised. I mean you have been gone for over two months!” “Who’s in there?” “Just the usual suspects. With one addition, Pete.” Benny’s eyes got big. “Don’t worry, its fine. Remember, Pete is over Paul. They’ve actually talked several times while you’ve been gone, clearing the air. It was all Tom’s doing once he found out about Pete and me.” All Benny could say in response was, “Wow!” Jim laughed as he got out and fetched Benny’s bags from the back seat. They walked up to the front door and Benny hesitated. “They’re not gonna yell, `Surprise!’ or anything like that are they?” Jim put down Benny’s bag, sent a quick text. Got a reply back and answered, “No, not now.” They both laughed as Benny opened the door to oohs and ahhs. That’s when Benny realized he might have forgotten to mention that he’d been getting some sun while in the south of France. His skin was darker and his hair was lighter it was also a lot longer after two months of letting it grow. Tom was the first to hug his son. He’d already seen the changes a month ago but neglected to tell anyone back home. Then one by one, they all came to hug him and welcome him home. Pete was the last one and while hugging his friend he said, “I am loving the new look… very sexy.” “I heard that,” Jim said from behind him. “Damn!” Pete muttered and the three had a good laugh. There was plenty to eat and drink and everyone was having a good time until the doorbell rang. Benny looked around and couldn’t think of anyone who might be missing. That’s when Pete pulled Benny aside and said, “He just wants to apologize. Give him a minute to do that then you can ask him to leave. Please?” Benny was torn between being angry at the ambush and being relieved that he was there at all. Since his family and friends were all around him for support, he chose the latter then went to the door and opened it. Ren was standing on the front porch looking sheepish probably for the first time in his life, Benny thought. Instead of inviting him in though, Benny stepped out and closed the door behind him. “You have one minute, go.” Ren should have expected that but was caught off guard for a moment. Then he launched into his well-rehearsed apology. “I’m so sorry, Benny, for hurting you. I realized after you’d gone that I did have feelings for you and I know it’s too late now but I wanted you to know that I never set out to hurt you. I know I don’t deserve a second chance but I’m hoping that you’ll find it in your heart to forgive me and give me one, a second chance that it. That’s it. Oh and you look incredible by the way. I’ll go now. Enjoy the party and welcome home.” Ren turned to leave. He’d made it about halfway down the front walk when Benny called out, “I’d like to forgive you, Ren. I just need a little more time. Your showing up was a surprise. Thanks for saying what you did. I appreciate it.” Ren took a few steps back toward the house and said, “Thanks, Ben. I appreciate any chance you’re willing to give me to make things right between us. I’ll see you around campus.” Then he turned and walked away. Benny went back into the house where Jim and Pete were waiting to be reprimanded. But it never came. Instead, Benny hugged them both and said, “Thanks, guys. He apologized, asked me to forgive him and give him another chance. I’m going to give it some thought then I’ll let you… and him know what I decide.” Then he went to join a conversation his dad was having with his grandpa. Well you could have knocked both Jim and Pete over with the same feather. The evening wrapped up a few hours later and Benny retired to his room exhausted from the flight, the party and the apology. He ended up sleeping in the next morning and when his dad came to check on him, he said he felt rested and that he was going to meditate before breakfast and to go ahead and eat without him. Tom told him that he was going to leave something for him warming in the oven then left him to it. As he was about to inform Paul of what Benny had said, they both heard him start chanting. In a quiet voice, Tom assured his lover that he would explain everything then led him down the hall to the kitchen. Benny emerged from his room about thirty minutes later. He kissed Tom and Paul then took the plate of food out kadıköy travesti of the oven and sat down to eat. It was a Sunday so neither his dad nor his uncle were in a hurry to get to anything in particular so they peppered Benny with questions about his mysterious visitor the night before. “It was Ren. He came to apologize, ask me to forgive him and think about giving him a second chance.” His father was the first one to speak, “Well, you’re not going to, are you? Give him a second chance I mean.” “I told him I’d think about it. And I will.” Paul stopped Tom from objecting again. “Well, I think that’s a very mature way to handle the situation, don’t you Tom?” Tom did not look like he agreed at all, but he breathed and calmed down enough to say, “It’s your decision and I will support you no matter what you do.” Paul appreciated the restraint it had taken his partner to say those words when he knew he felt the exact opposite. “Thanks, Dad, Uncle Paul. I appreciate you both letting me handle it in my own way.” Then he got up, put his dishes in the sink and went to his room to play the guitar he had brought back from France. “Thanks, Hon, for being so understanding. It really is up to Ben how he handles this.” Tom was about to speak when Paul put up his hand and said, “I know all you want to do protect him but he has to make these decisions for himself. He’ll be fine. He’s turned out to be one fine young man. You did that. Trust him.” Tom calmed down once more then asked, “When did you get to be so wise?” Paul laughed and replied, “During the time we were apart. I’m like a fine wine. I mature with age.” Tom grinned lasciviously at him, took him by the hand and led him down the hall to have his way with him. * Benny started back to school a few weeks later. He picked some art courses for his electives. He and Jim still worked out together and they saw Ren once in a while there too. They exchanged pleasantries whenever they saw each other but Benny still wasn’t ready for it to be anymore than that yet. Luckily, they didn’t have any classes together that semester. Meanwhile, he continued playing poker with both his family at home and Jim and Pete at Pete’s apartment. Ren was not included and Benny opted out of the extracurricular activities at both places sighting schoolwork and his art. He didn’t want to intrude on Jim and Pete’s relationship and, for the moment, he felt like he didn’t need any sexual partners inside or outside his family. His uncle had let him take over the old potting shed in the backyard. With the help of his grandmother, it turned out to be a realty great place to create and even a quiet retreat from the world when he needed it. He made art, he played the guitar and he even wrote poetry in his spare time. He kept in touch with Eddie and Mikhail via email but was forced to write letters to JJ because he refused to create an email account. JJ insisted it was an abomination to write anyone without the use of pen and paper. After winter break, Benny and Ren did end up in the same art class. Benny wasn’t so sure that it was the coincidence that Ren claimed. But if they were to repair their friendship, he would have to start trusting the man. Ren was relatively new to creating art, so he needed a little extra help from the teacher and when she wasn’t available, Benny stepped in to assist. It was easier to be around Ren after so long apart, so when he asked Benny to join him, Jim and Pete for Sunday dinner at his apartment, Benny told him he would have to think about it. He went to Jim first and asked about it and sure enough, Ren had been cooking for the three of them for many months. It seems he had taken a cooking class over the past summer and had enjoyed it so much he liked to try out new recipes on them. Benny found it hard to believe the same guy who ordered pizza and pasta from the family’s restaurant downstairs was actually cooking but when asked, Pete assured him that Ren was indeed doing all the cooking for Sunday dinners. He had even cooked for his mother and father and grandmother and grandfather a time or two. So Benny accepted the invitation and was even looking forward to sharing a meal once again with Ren. Pete, Jim and Ren decided to cancel their weekly poker game in favor of Ren’s special dinner. Benny was still uneasy about buzzing Ren’s after their disastrous bakırköy travesti last encounter before he went away for the summer, so when Benny arrived, he buzzed Pete’s apartment instead. Pete buzzed him up then he and Jim met Benny outside Ren’s door. Pete didn’t bother knocking, he just opened the door and they let themselves in. Benny was gobsmacked at the difference just a few months had made. Ren’s former “college boy” apartment where the furniture looked like it had been salvaged from a dumpster now looked like a real grownup’s place, nice couch, real wood shelves, lamps, chairs, a coffee table. Even the mismatched dining table and chairs had been replaced. Benny was stunned. Jim leaned in and said, “Nice, huh?” Benny looked at him and said, “Yeah, very nice.” Pete announced their arrival and Ren stopped what he was doing immediately and greeted his guests. He hugged and kissed Pete, then Jim and finally he held out his hand, offering to shake Benny’s, but Benny didn’t want to be the asshole who couldn’t hug a former sex partner, so he hugged Ren too, but held off on the kiss. Ren was just happy that they had progressed that far. “Uncle Pete will you pour everyone a glass of wine, dinner is almost ready.” Pete did as requested and handed them out. As soon as they all had a glass, Ren prosed a toast saying, “To friends who are absent no longer. Cheers.” They raised their glasses, clinking them together. Benny was still amazed at the transformation and he was still a bit dubious. It was only natural after he’d been hurt, but he was willing to give Ren the benefit of the doubt, for now. They enjoyed a delicious meal and when it was time to clean up Benny offered to help Ren. Jim and Pete sat back and watched and hoped that this might be a turning point because they both knew all too well just how much Ren had changed and for the better. When the two were all done, Jim announced that he and Pete were going upstairs to their apartment, apparently Jim had moved in with Pete the previous month. He asked if Benny wanted to leave with them but he looked at Ren for a sign that he wanted him to stay and right on cue Ren said, “You’re free to stay and talk if you’d like. I mean if you want to.” Benny answered, “Thanks, Jim, Pete, but I’ll stay a little while… just to talk.” Jim kissed his best friend then so did Pete. They left and Ren invited Benny to sit on the couch. He sat on one end while Ren sat on the other but he did turn to face him. Benny did the same. “I’d offer you an after dinner drink but I know you have to drive back home so…” “Thanks, that’s very considerate of you, Ren.” Then a thought occurred to Benny, so he asked, “What is Ren short for? I know I should have asked a long time ago but… well, I’m asking now.” Ren chuckled and answered, “Renaldo. I know now I should have volunteered that information before and I’m sorry about that but it’s not my favorite subject.” Benny was curious as to what he meant so he asked, “What do you mean? It’s a beautiful name. So lyrical.” Ren had never thought of it as anything but a nuisance when he was growing up, the other kids making up names that rhymed with Renaldo. “I guess I’m too sensitive.” “Maybe. Mine is Benjamin, boring old Benjamin or Benny or Ben.” Ren laughed because he had never found anything about Benny boring. Then Benny added, “Nothing as exotic as Renaldo, Renaldo Fiore,” pronouncing it in his best Italian accent. “Then it should please you to know that Pete is actually, Pietro and my dad’s name is Damiano not Damian. Of course you already know my grandfather is Giuseppe.” Benny smiled knowing Ren had already shared more about himself in the last five minutes than he had in the entire time they’d been seeing each other. They sat and talked for over an hour. Ren told Benny about his summer and fist semester of school then Benny shared a bit about France but he was careful to leave out the parts about JJ and Mickey. He wasn’t ready to share them with Ren just yet. Ren could sense that Benny was holding back, but he knew if they ever got to the point where Benny wanted to share that, he would. Eventually, Benny decided it was time to go so they both got up and Ren walked him to the door. They hugged once more then Benny said he’d see him in art class. On the way home, Benny thought a lot about the evening and how easy it had been to be in Ren’s company again. He had a lot to think about on his way home and before he went to sleep. But at the end of the day, he was glad he’d given Ren another chance. How far that chance extended remained to be seen. (to be continued in Part 7)
